Moving itself is very stressful experience and is aggrieved if you have children which is disturbed by the thought of moving. But it is possible to lesson the stress and prepare the children to moving. The key is involved your son or daughter in the process of moving. Make them believe that this is the team work and they will become excited. Don’t overdo this, otherwise they will become over enthusiastic and start creating problems. Let them involve in packing their things.
Start the packing by telling the children to make a complete list of all their materials. It is very difficult to remove a single item from their list, even though parents think that most of them are absolutely useless. Don’t try to remove anything from their list.
Next take your children to craft shop and find out some packing materials which not only used for packing their items but afterward can be used by them for their fun project. Also buy some marker pens, stickers, fun labels etc.
Now visit the new premises with children and show them their room. Tell them to note the dimension etc. of their room. They may come up with some idea of renovation which is practical and if you have the time and resources than do it, otherwise promise them that it will be done after the moving. Tell them to start planning, where they will put their things in new houses.
Come back to the old house. Help children to organize their things and also help them in packing various things in to the boxes. If children have already outgrown their bed than it is good idea to sell this bed and install new bed with design approved by your children.
Take special care when packing computer or music system or any other electronic gadgets. Clothes that are not used by your children for quite a long time are given to the charity.
