Prepare a plan
Planning is the most important thing that makes your moving stress free. To start with, take a note book and start writing everything. Yes everything that you put in side the Box or Packet. Than number the Box and put the same number on your note book. This will be your guide when you are unpacking. Find out from the note book what you want and see the number, locate that numbered Box and you will get that particular item. Keep this note book with your personal belonging.
Finding the boxes
You will need large quantities of boxes. Start collecting the different sized boxes from various sources like your grocery shop. Since it is for one time use it is not worth to purchase these boxes. You may have to repair this boxes a bit. Some of the moving companies also offer some cheap second hand boxes, you may use it. Start packing as soon as you get the boxes. If one day you get only 5 boxes than don’t wait for other boxes but start packing your things in this 5 boxes. Always put around 8-10 boxes aside for last minutes uses.
Don’t try to pack very heavy item in delicate box. Since generally when this box is lifted the bottoms gives way. Wardrobe boxes are excellent packing material and it hold many items.
Color code everything
Assign a color to every room like red for kitchen, green for living room and so on. When packing, don’t forget to stick the respective sticker on every box. For example all boxes that contains kitchen items has green sticker. Now in your new house stick the respected colored sticker on the door, so moving people know where to put boxes with particular color sticker. This way you will have all the kitchen boxes that has green sticker in the kitchen.
