1. Extra insurance: If you are taking the help of reputed moving company than they includes general insurance in their quote. But if you have valuable like glass containers, than it is better to cover this type of fragile articles with extra insurance. The moving company insurance is generally based on the weight basis that is if your glass container is broken during moving than insurance company will give you only 60 cents per one pound of weight. This is ridiculous for some of the light items which have value in hundreds. So additional, value based insurance is advisable. The premium of this insurance is generally not perceived by many people.
2. If you are vacating or selling your existing house than there are certain things thathas to be fixed which costs money and time. To fix the plumbing line after removing your items require professional plumber. Similarly removing and fixing the electrical items like fans, air conditioning etc. requires the help of professional electricians. This expenditure is often overlooked by many.
3. There are different deposits and fees for disconnecting and re connecting or new connecting of various utilities.
4. How you and your family are moving in to the new house? All movable goes in to the truck of moving company but you have to arrange some type of transportation for your family which classifies as hidden cost. Also you have to consider the cost of snacks, lunch, dinner, hotel stay and other on way expanses whichever is applicable to you. You may add taxi and airline charges if you are traveling to your new house by plane.
